Fans who attended called it magnetic and empowering, stating that Tina’s energy put younger performers like Beyoncé or Rihanna to shame.
Throughout her 50 years on the music stage, Tina Turner released a whooping 72 singles. The best received ones include (but are not limited to) “What’s Love Got to Do with It”, “Proud Mary”, “River Deep – Mountain High”, “Private Dancer”, “We Don’t Need Another Hero” and “Acid Queen”.

She was only 16 when Ike Turner asked her to join the band and it didn’t take long before he began seducing the teenage singer; she felt as if she had no choice because she “needed the work”. After their divorce was finalized in 1976, it would still take decades for Tina to forgive Ike. The two would never collaborate again. In her own words, “Ike wasn’t someone you could forgive and allow him back in.”
Ike Turner passed away on December 12, 2007, from a cocaine overdose, at the age of 76. He was suffering from high blood pressure and emphysema, which likely contributed to his death. He kept clean after his release from jail in 1991 until 2004, when he relapsed, culminating with his overdose in 2007. Tina Turner did not attend his funeral.
