On the 6th of May 2002, entrepreneur and engineer Elon Musk founded Space Exploration Technologies Corp., trading under the name of SpaceX. Aiming to reduce the costs of space transportation and enable the colonization of Mars, the private aerospace manufacturer has already developed 2 series of advanced launch vehicles that currently deliver payloads into Earth orbit.
To honor the company that has literally taken rocket science to new heights, we have created the SpaceX Timeline, which overviews the achievements that have earned the manufacturer worldwide attention and the reputation of a truly groundbreaking enterprise.
Although a relatively young company, SpaceX has reached so far several milestones that have revolutionized the history of space exploration. Only 6 years after its outset, SpaceX successfully launched the first privately funded rocket to reach orbit. This ensued a whole range of other premieres, such as the first controlled flyback and recovery of a payload fairing from the International Space Station, marking a decisive progress in terms of rocket reusability.
Born out of Elon Musk’s project to land a small experimental greenhouse on Mars to grow plants, SpaceX has rapidly developed into a fully-fledged space transportation services supplier with over 100 missions to its manifest, which makes it the world’s leading commercial launch provider.
The SpaceX chronology was designed using Office Timeline, an intuitive and efficient PowerPoint plugin that easily generates impressive project plans, Gantt charts, and timelines. The image, which is free to copy and reproduce, can be updated and restyled using the free 14-day trial of the tool.
