Today, forward-looking company Bloomberg L.P. – one of the biggest financial software, data and media ventures in the world – celebrates its 37th anniversary. Founded by Michael Bloomberg and three other partners with the aim of connecting decision makers to a network of data, contacts and ideas, Bloomberg L.P. delivers accurate business information, news and insights to financial organizations worldwide. Set up as a privately held business in Midtown Manhattan, New York, it now boasts 19,000 employees in 176 locations around the world, and 325,000 subscriptions globally.
To wish a happy birthday to the company that has revolutionized the technology systems in international financial markets, we have created the Bloomberg L.P. Timeline, which illustrates its evolution since its establishment on the 1st of October, 1981.
Initially called Innovative Market Systems, the venture designed and developed its own computerized systems to deliver real-time market data and financial analytics to Wall Street firms. In 1986, just 5 years after its inception, the company had already installed 5,000 of their terminals in subscribers’ offices. Their computer system, called the Bloomberg terminal, represented one of the first and major competitors to the dull trading screens provided by Reuters, and was the first dual-screen terminal available on the market. This innovation helped Bloomberg L.P. make a name in the world of finance and become, along ThomsonReuters, one of the giants of the industry.
The Bloomberg L.P. chronology was designed with Office Timeline, a user-friendly plugin for PowerPoint that helps you create professional-looking timelines, Gantt charts and other similar visuals almost instantly. You can copy and share the image for free, and can update or restyle it using the Plus version of the tool.
